Why Skywale
The difference is local knowledge, not a longer brochure
Anyone can sell you Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam. The value is in the hundred small decisions underneath — and those only come from being here.
We actually live here
Our planners are from Srinagar. We know which road is open this morning, which houseboat has working heating and which hotel photographs better than it stays.
Nothing is copy-pasted
Every itinerary is written from scratch for your dates, your group and your pace. No fixed departures, no packing twelve people into someone else’s schedule.
Properties we have stood inside
Hotels, houseboats and homestays are personally inspected. If we would not put our own family there, it does not go in your itinerary.
One clear quote
Every inclusion written down before you pay anything. No surprise union taxi charges, no gondola tickets you did not know you needed.
Honest advice, even when it costs us
If your dates are wrong for what you want, we will say so. If a route is unsuitable for someone in your group, we will tell you before you book.
Someone on call, all trip
One named contact who knows your itinerary, reachable at any hour from the moment you land to the moment you fly home.
Where to go
Fifty places across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh
From the obvious ones you have already pictured to the valleys most itineraries never mention. Every page has photographs from both summer and winter, so you know what you are actually booking.
Eighteen square kilometres of waterways, floating gardens and carved houseboats that have defined the image of Kashmir for a hundred and fifty years.
A 2,650-metre bowl below Apharwat peak with the world's second-highest operating gondola, India's best lift-served skiing and a summer meadow that gave the place its name.
A glacial valley at 2,730 metres on the road to Ladakh, surrounded by snow peaks, braided rivers and the walk-in Thajiwas glacier.
The Mughal emperors built their idea of paradise into the hillside above Dal Lake — twelve terraces, running water and chinar avenues still standing four hundred years on.

Kashmir Valley
Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden
Asia's largest tulip garden opens for roughly twenty-five days each spring, with seventy varieties terraced between the Zabarwan hills and Dal Lake.
Kashmir's most relaxed hill town, where the Lidder river runs through pine forest at 2,130 metres, with Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari branching off above it.
A cave shrine in the Trikuta hills above Katra, drawing around ten million pilgrims a year to the three natural rock pindis of the Mother Goddess.
Trip styles
Built around why you are coming
A honeymoon and a sixty-person offsite need completely different planning. Pick the closest match and we will take it from there.

Kashmir Honeymoon & Romantic Escapes
A cedar houseboat on Nigeen, a private shikara at sunset and two days in the snow at Gulmarg — planned so you never have to think about logistics.

Family Holidays in Kashmir
Short drives, comfortable hotels, snow the children can actually play in and an itinerary that does not fall apart when someone needs a nap.

Group & Corporate Tours
Twenty people, one coach, zero chaos — offsites, college groups and extended families handled by a team that does this every week.

Adventure & Trekking
Kashmir Great Lakes, Tarsar–Marsar, Kolahoi and the Markha Valley — run with local crews who have walked these routes their whole lives.

Winter, Snow & Skiing
Gulmarg powder, snow on the Dal and a valley that empties out just as it becomes most beautiful.

Pilgrimage — Vaishno Devi & Amarnath
Yatra parchi, helicopter slots, base camp stays and health certificates — the parts of a pilgrimage nobody wants to spend a month arranging.
Two valleys, one place
Kashmir looks like a different country in winter
Picking the right season matters more here than almost anywhere else in India. Here is the honest difference between the two.

April – October
The green Kashmir
Tulips in April, meadows and open passes through summer, then chinars turning crimson and the saffron harvest in late October. Every road is open and every trek is running.
- Tulip Garden in bloom
- Great Lakes trekking
- Gurez & Bangus open
- Saffron harvest at Pampore

December – March
The white Kashmir
Gulmarg under a metre of powder, mist on a half-frozen Dal, and the valley at its emptiest and cheapest. The most dramatic season, and the one most people never see.
- World-class skiing at Gulmarg
- Snow on the Mughal gardens
- Lowest rates of the year
- Chillai Kalan deep winter

In their words
What travellers tell us afterwards
Reviews collected from guests who travelled with us. Names shortened at their request.
“We landed with nothing planned beyond the flights. By the time we reached the houseboat there was a car, a driver who knew every shortcut, and a shikara waiting at 6 p.m. The tulip garden timing advice alone made the trip.”
Ananya & Rohit
Pune · 6-day honeymoon · April
“Travelling with my parents, both in their seventies, and a four-year-old. Every drive was short, every hotel had a lift, and somebody called each morning to check how the previous day had gone. That is not normal in Indian travel.”
Meenakshi Iyer
Chennai · 8-day family holiday · June
“Gondola tickets pre-booked, instructor sorted, and when Phase 2 shut for wind on day two they already had an alternative plan ready. The hotel actually had working heating, which I am told is not a given.”
Dhruv Malhotra
Delhi · 5-day ski trip · February
“Honest advice throughout, including telling me to drop a day in Pangong and add it to Nubra instead. They were right. The Turtuk homestay was the single best night of the trip.”
Sarah Whitfield
Manchester, UK · 10-day Kashmir & Ladakh · September
“Sixty-four people, one coach convoy, zero complaints. Meals were pre-ordered so nobody waited, the conference room worked, and the bonfire wazwan evening is still being talked about.”
Vikram Shetty
Bengaluru · Corporate offsite, 64 people · October
“The helicopter slot for my mother made the yatra possible at all. They handled the registration, the Katra hotel and the drive to Srinagar afterwards without us lifting a finger.”
Priya & family
Ahmedabad · Vaishno Devi & Srinagar · November

Questions
The things everyone asks first
If your question is not here, our full FAQ covers planning, safety, permits and what happens on the ground.
What is the best time to visit Kashmir?
It depends entirely on what you want. Late March to early May gives you almond blossom, the tulip garden and mild weather. June to August is the classic summer season with open passes and full trekking access. September to November brings autumn chinars, the saffron harvest and the clearest mountain views. December to February is snow season, cheapest of all, and spectacular if you are prepared for the cold.
How many days do I need for a Kashmir trip?
Six days is the comfortable minimum for Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam. Five works if you are willing to move quickly. Eight to ten lets you add Sonmarg, Doodhpathri or Yusmarg without rushing. If you want Ladakh as well, add at least five more days including acclimatisation.
Do you publish fixed package prices?
No, and deliberately so. Hotel rates in Kashmir swing enormously between seasons, group sizes change everything, and a fixed price list would mean either overcharging you or quietly cutting corners. Tell us your dates, group size and rough budget and we will send a specific itinerary with a specific price.
How far in advance should I book?
Two to three months for peak summer (June–August) and snow season (January–February). Four to six weeks is usually fine for shoulder season. Large groups and the tulip or Amarnath windows need longer.
Is Kashmir safe for tourists right now?
Tourist areas are well frequented and local hospitality towards visitors is exceptional. We are based in Srinagar, we track conditions daily, and we will tell you plainly if any part of an itinerary needs changing — including advising you to postpone if that is the right call.
Is Kashmir safe for solo women travellers?
Yes, and it has a strong reputation for this. We still recommend vetted accommodation, a known driver and a local contact available at any hour, all of which we provide as standard.
