Overview
About Aharbal Waterfall
Aharbal is where the Veshaw river funnels into a narrow rock channel and drops around twenty-five metres into a pool below. It is loud, cold and genuinely impressive, especially in late spring when snowmelt is at its peak, and the pine forest around it makes for a good half-day out from Srinagar.
Beyond the fall itself, Aharbal is the starting point for the trek to Kousar Nag, a high alpine lake below the Pir Panjal, and for routes towards Kungwattan and Mahinag. Viewing platforms have been built above and below the fall, and there are a few basic huts, but the area remains far less developed than the valley's headline destinations.
